An observation on the Judges and the judged of American Idol. What's in a name and making a name?
The Judges And The Judged.
Being a judge or a presenter on American Idol sure does have its perks. Like any television career there is the the high visibility of fame and there is, of course, the pay. American Idol has even been #1 for six consecutive seasons. But that is not even my focus here. I noticed something very interesting about the names of judges, past and present on that show. Let me see if you can see it before I say it:
P – Paula Abdool
E – Ellen DeGeneres
R – Randy Jackson
K – Kara DioGuardi
S – Simon Cowell
Yes, the first names of the judges of American Idol past and present spell P-E-R-K-S! Although American Idol has lost Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell as judges the contestants continue to see perks. Many of the singers have found that their careers have taken off after copping first place. First there is Kelly Clarkson, then Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks, David Cook, Kris Allen and Lee DeWyze. No one who loses can be called a loser as often those who do just as well as or even better than past winners. Jennifer Hudson, Chris Daughtry and Clay Aiken are just three of those who have found great success despite not winning on American Idol. So, yes, American Idol does have its perks, whether you are judged or are a judge. May we celebrate talent that should now be used for God and not make dolls and idols of mere mortals, worshipping the creature more than the Creator. Talent is lent by God. Use it to bless.
