Many celebrities have been caught driving under the influence. Here are some examples.

Celebrity DUIs

Lindsay Lohan - Actress/Singer
On May 26th 2007 Lyndsay Lohan was charged for DUI as well as suspected cocaine possession after crashing her Mercedes SL-65 on a curb on Sunset Boulevard, Beverley Hills. She spent some time in rehab but then in July 2007 a lady called 911 claiming they were being chased by someone. This turned out to be Lohan who was tested on scene and found to have a blood alcohol level of between 0.12 and 0.13 percent. A small amount of cocaine was also found in her pocket.

Busta Rhymes - Rapper
On May 3rd 2007, In New York, Busta Rhymes was pulled over for having “excessively tinted windows” in his 2006 GMC Yukon Denai. This may sound trivial but he smelled of alcohol and subsequently failed a sobriety test. He pleaded guilty and under a plea deal community service and a $1,250 fine. He was also ordered to undertake the Driving while Intoxicated (DWI) program.

Eve - Rap Star
On April 27th 2007 Eve drove her Maserati into the center divider on Hollywood Boulevard. She was arrested for DUI and pleaded no contest in court. She was sentenced to 36 months informal probation, ordered to wear a SCRAM alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet for 45 days, take part in a three-month first-offender alcohol education program and attend at least 10 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

Nicole Richie
In December 2006 Nicole Richie was spotted driving the wrong way on the 134 freeway in Burbank, California. She was pulled over and found to be under the influence of Vicodin (a painkiller) and marijuana. Richie received a sentence of four days in jail, fined $2,048, was ordered back to school for an alcohol education program and got three years probation
Paris Hilton - Socialite/Singer
Paris Hilton was pulled over in Hollywood by police on September 8th 2006 for erratic driving. She was afterwards charged with DUI. She received a sentence of three years probation, was required to attend an alcohol awareness program, pay fines and her licence got suspended. She was then later sentenced to 45 days in jail after being pulled over on the suspended licence and sent to court for public violation. After a few days of her sentence she was released, apparently on medical issues. This caused a public outcry and she was ordered back into jail. She was spent days and did an interview with Larry King after her release

Mel Gibson - Actor/Director
On July 28th 2006 Mel Gibson was pulled over for speeding at 84 mph in a 45 mph zone in Malibu, California. He then failed the sobriety test as his blood-alcohol levels were 0.12% (the legal limit in the state is 0.8%) and apparently made anti-semantic comments. He received a sentence of three years probation, a 90-day alcohol abuse program, 12 months of meetings with Alcoholics Anonymous and a fine of $1,300 and a 90-day license restriction. Gibson volunteered to do public service announcements regarding the dangers of drink driving and to enter rehab.

Diana Ross - Singer
In December 2002 Diana Ross was pulled over by Arizona police after her car was reported travelling southbound in the northbound lanes just outside Tuscon’s northeast limits. She was then found to be three times over the legal limit. She pleaded no contest in court and received a 2 day jail sentence and one year of unsupervised probation.

Nick Nolte - Actor
On September 11th 2002 Nick Nolte was arrested by the California Highway Patrol after his Mercedes-Benz was spotted weaving across lanes and into the path of incoming traffic on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. He was described as “drooling” and “out of it.” He pleaded no contest in court and was fined $500, ordered to take part in a 90 day treatment program amd was given three years probation.

George W. Bush - President of The United States 2000-2008
In 1976 George Bush was arrested for DUI in the state of Maine. He plead guilty and was given a $150 as well as having his driving privileges in the state of Maine revoked temporarily.
