In the second Grand Prix race of 2012, Lewis Hamilton goes all out to prove he is a force to be reckoned with.

Lewis Hamilton's Driving Force

Lewis Hamilton has started the Grand Prix season of 2012 in fine form by proving he is the fastest in the world over one lap, firstly at the Australian Grand Prix last weekend, and again in Malaysia this weekend. when qualifying. But sadly these pole positions did not lead to a win, as he so richly deserved, but nevertheless on both occasions he earned himself third place on the podium, and is now second in the driver ratings.

He has spoken that finally MacLaren have come up with a car he feels he can challenge the Red Bulls with, but it’s not just about being the fastest driver, it’s about team effort, and fast pit stops, as well as the reliability of the car

In Australia last week, this is what happened

His down fall last week was a sluggish start, which allowed his team mate Button to get past and win the race. Lewis being the perfectionist that he is, blamed himself, but afterwards when the data was analysed, it was found there was a fault with the launch system, which was then rectified for future races. On the same day, a very slow pit stop allowed Vettel to jump his second place, and Lewis ended up 3rd.

This week after the launch system had been tweaked, Lewis was full of hope for his first win of 2012, and he proved his supremacy over Button by a really fast start, and then built up a convincing lead. It was a race in the rain, it poured down, and a safety car had to be deployed.

But the Maclaren team let him down again. His two pit stops were not only slow, as they couldn’t seem to get the jack under the back of the car to change the back wheels, and it lost him so much time that when he finally emerged from the pits, Alonso and Perez were ahead.

Button challenged him again

Button tried to challenge him again after his own very fast pit stop, and overtook him, but Lewis was having none of it, and with the rain pouring down, and visibility very poor, Lewis still managed to overtake again, and remain ahead of him. Shortly after that, Button in an over zealous move, lost his front wing in a collision, and this finished any chances of a points finish when he had to pit again, to get a new front wing. He ended up in 14th position.

Vettel ,last year’s champion also tried to improve his 4th position, but during an altercation with another car, his rear tyre was pierced, resulting in a puncture, so he had to make another pit stop , which saw him go down to finish in 11th position.

Alonso had an amazing win, it was well deserved, as he made his tyres work for him. Perez was 2nd, and Lewis, in spite of his team’s blunders, took a creditable 3rd position, once again on the podium. I have no doubt this will only fire him up more to want to win the next race, these things happen in Formula One, but I do hope Mac Laren can sort out his pit stops, so Lewis can have as equal a chance of victory as the other drivers.
