Dev Anand died today in London, He was a great actor and lovable star who will be remembered for ever.
Dev the Star
The death of Dev Anand the film star from Mumbai films is the end of an era. There are very few actors who have had as checkered a career as Dev Anand. Even Hollywood stars will find it difficult to match the verve and genius of Dev Saheb, who arguably was the greatest star of the Hindi screen.
Dev Anand started his career as a hero in 1946 and continued acting and producing films till 2011. His last film chargesheet hit the screen in 20011. One can't think of any actor anywhere in the world who held the stage for 65 years. I think it is a record and maybe he deserves a mention in Guinness book of records.
Dev Anand was a romantic hero who played the eternal lover on the screen. He starred with all the top heroines of his days from Zeenat Aman, Gaeta Bali, Vijayantimala, Shakila, and Nutan and names anybody. More important he gave a succession of hits and held the line light for over 6 decades.
Dev Anand the Legendary Hero
Dev Anand was an iconic film star and his exploits will be be hard to beat. He loved life and believed in work and work. Younger people can follow the life of Dev Anand was an iconic actor and a film producer. He also produced 35 films and that will Dev Anand and his zest for life and work.
Dev Anand had his share of loves. The most celebrated being his affair with the Muslim heroine Suraiya. Unfortunately the fact that Dev was a Hindu came in the way and Suraiya chickened out on pressure from her father and the rabid Urdu press. However Dev did not look back and continued his acting with zest and fervor.
Dev Anand was awarded the Padma Vibhusan, but I suppose there is a case for a Bharat Ratna for him. Last but not the least, Dev Anand will be remembered for ever with his 100 + films spread over 65 years. It is an era that can never be erased.

I enjoyed this article. Was he also in other classics like Arthi Merisathi and Ik Pool do malik? not sure of the spelling. I saw those films a while ago and thought his face seemed to remind me of the leading characters. Thank you for sharing
