Sony TV did telecast the Idea Filmfare Awards 2012 at 8 pm on 19th February, 2012. Superstar Ranbir Kapoor and actress Vidya Balan won the best actor and actress award in Filmfare Awards 2012. The awards were given on 29th January, 2012. Ranbir Kapoor won the award for his performance in the film Rockstar while Vidya Balan won it for the performance in the film Dirty Picture. Shahrukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor anchored the program with a witty set of performances.
Salman Khan was denied filmfare award once again inspite of Bodyguard doing the best business in 2011. But Ranbir Kapoor requires credit because, after 3 generation of stars in his family, Pritviraj Kapoor, Raj Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor, he had hard task of matching the deeds of his father, grandfather and others. His two sisters Kareena Kapoor and Karishma Kapoor gave the awards to him. He is the new superstar of India who is going to give lot of challenge to Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and others in future.
The critics choice award.
The critics choice award for the best actor male went to Ranbir Kapoor for the performance in the film Rockstar. The critics choice award for the best actor female went to Priyanka Chopra for Saat Khoon Maaf. AR Rehman won the filmfare award for the best music director once again for his composition in Rockstar. He is breaking his own record. Usha Utthup and Rekha Bhardwaj won the best singer female award for their song “darling” in the film Saat Khoon Maaf. Rekha Bhardwaj could not come to take her award. Usha Utthup said people talk about 6 awards, 7 awards, she got her first award after serving the industry for more than 30 years. Mohit Chauhan won the best singer male award for the song “jo bhi mai” in the film Rockstar. It is strange that film Bodyguard after doing business worth 160 crores was not considered for awards.
Aruna Irani won the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Zoya Akhtar was rewarded with best director award for the film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. It is strange that Siddique could not get best director award for Bodyguard. Rani Mukherjee received best supporting actress award for her performance in the film No One Killed Jessica. Farhan Akhtar won the best supporting actor award for his performance in the film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.
Shahrukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor hosted the award while many stars performed during the Awards Night. Aruna Irani received the lifetime achievement award for immense contribution to bollywood cinema. She said that Dilip Kumar brought her in the film industry with the film Ganga Jumna in 1961. Neither did she know acting nor dancing nor education. She learned everything. If she was given another birth she wanted to be an actress again in the bollywood industry.
Few observations.
There are few observations in respect of the filmfare awards. Previously the entire bollywood industry used to feature in those awards. In 2012, none of the superstars Salman Khan, Ajay Devgan, Sanjay Dutt, Rishi Kapoor, Anil Kapoor were present, nor the actresses Lara Dutta, Tabu, Isha Koppikar, Rani Mukherjee were present. Half of the composers, singers directors did not come. It looked like those people who were given the awards were informed earlier and they only came to grace the occasion.

The new generation should know the art of speaking from veterans like Aruna Irani. She addressed the entire industry with utmost humility.
