. Masters blaster Sachin was nominated for Rajya Sabha, politics is a different ball game. It’s not played with a straight bat. How will he cope? This is president's way to tell Sachin to move away from cricket. This would be a good incentive for Sachin to hangup his boots.
Sachin nomination for Rajya Sabha
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had shot off a letter to the home ministry proposing the name of Sachin and three others, including one-time Bollywood heart-throb Rekha, in the distinguished members' category. The home ministry forwarded the recommendation to President Pratibha Patil , she had signed the file, clearing the decks for the masters blaster’s entry into the House of Elders. Many questioning whether the publicly a political batting superstar will have the time or inclination to serve as an MP. Some welcoming the move and others critical of his new role, which will deprive him from playing.
Is it good for Sachin?
The holder of 100 international centuries will be the first active sportsman to receive the honour, with the seats normally gifted to people who have distinguished themselves in the arts, sciences or social services. Tendulkar's nomination to the Rajya Sabha has come as a surprise against the backdrop of a long-standing demand to confer on him the Bharat Ratna for his contribution to the game. Why give a Rajya Sabha nomination to him when the whole country wants that he will be deserve for getting the Bharat Ratna award. Politics is a different ball game. It’s not played with a straight bat. How will he cope? This is president's way to tell Sachin to move away from cricket. This would be a good incentive for Sachin to hangup his boots. Finally majority of common people feeling that Sachin personality is not fit for politics, and it is better to teach about the cricket to young Indians to create hundreds of Sachins for India. If he entered into politics, from that time onwards will start his careers end.

Sachin is a great cricketer. He can contribute greatly in that area. He should concentrate on that. Politics may not be good for him.

Good post, but I doubt Sachin is right material for Rajya Sabha. He will be a misfit there

Though he has records to prove his sterling credentials in cricket, his exalted status is too flattering. I hope he will bat for the common citizen than just take this as another feather in his cap! Thanks Spicy for the share - siva

It is just enough to be a silent spectator in the house of "phillipe Sober".Who said one must be active in the Indian Rajya Sabha?.After all Sachin has been nominated to to the upper for all his achievements in Cricket.Apart from the perks that he can enjoy as an MP, he can not achieve much.If you belong to a particular party say Congress I, or BJP or SP your stake as an MP is somewhat high.
