Simple gadget when handed to Jason Bourne, they can be lethal.
The Ultimate Bourne
Before the Bourne series, I would never think that a book, a magazine, a pen, and a towel can be used as weapons. Without a doubt, I would say Jason Bourne is really the ultimate brainiac assassin in the movie history. He doesn’t has any fancy gadgets but he survived by using the most primitive technique – his brain.
In the first movie, “The Bourne Identity”, Jason Bourne used the pen on his table to defense himself against the semi auto weapon and knife flashing assassin in Paris. I’d wager you still recall that sequence.
In the second movie, Jason Bourne is back for revenge over Marie’s death. That was really upsetting because I really like Marie (played by Franka Potente). They have remarkable chemistry as she was the piece which making some sort of sense out of his amnesia life. In the scene where he went to visit his former assassin non colleague (as they worked alone) and they fought. Jason Bourne utilized the magazine to wound the opponent and then set up an explosive with the magazine boiling the water. That was the second method I never know.
In The Bourne Ultimatum, Jason Bourne decided it was time for them to pay back for what they did to him. So he fought another assassin Desh inside the apartment in Tangier. This time, master Bourne used a book to hit on Desh’s neck and later changed to towel in the bathroom.
The whole scenes were fast pacing but it felt too real to feel it in the skin. Jeff Imada took the credit and thanks to Jason and Desh’s impeccable practices.
As far as I know, the martial art that Jason Bourne is practicing is Filipino Kali which a mixed martial art Krav Maga is formed based on the Kali Escrima Arnis. It is a few basic moves where counter, block and attack happened at the same time.
