In the recent past the birthplace of Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor were preserved by the Government of Pakistan. It was a welcome step. The records of hit films of 1940s, 50s and 60s show their domination.

Devdas was a flop that met limited critical appreciation as it was compared to Saigal's masterpiece. Otherwise a great piece, Souvik.

Dear Rajivji, thanks a lot for your educative comments. Dilip Kumar also had to face the challenge of matching Pramathesh Barua who did the previous Devdas in Bengali. It was a very honest effort on the part of director Bimal Roy.
