This article is in tribute of V.S. Naipaul a renowned author born in my country.

An extraordinary author.

Pride overwhelms my heart when I read of the person who sparked this burning flame within me. My ambitions to write came from reading some of his books at a very young age. His name is V.S. Naipaul. He was born in Trinidad in the year 1932. His spirit of comedy flowed through his written words and made me giggle at his intellectual comedy.
In 2001 he obtained the well deserved Nobel prize. His many books were humorously based on corrupt politics, the poor and oppressed, slavery, revolution etc.
Being a very private man his achievement has been deemed extraordinary. His personal story is one of deprivation at a young age. Overcoming those obstacles he achieved a scholarship and headed for Oxford University of England. England is considered his home. Although criticized for saying that women cannot measure up to men where writing is concerned - Myself, being a woman, forgive him for this cruel remark, as I believe that fame mixed with pride were the sure recipe for these dis-pleasurable words. These two ingredients are sure to bring about negative changes in the humblest of humans.
Notwithstanding this minute displeasure of frank words, he is still rated as my number one author of all time because he has indeed stood the test of time.

I am from a small island called Trinidad and Tobago. I love writing and i take it seriously. Most of my work is straight from the heart whilst others require some soul searching.

Naipaul's saying that women cannot measure up to men where writing is concerned is NOT correct.
He's is only being statistical, and statistics are NOT the measure for creativity.

Creativity also has an element of opportunity and circumstance.

Creativity blooms under many different favorable and conducive environments.
