The new film Kahaani had shown the spark of Vidya Balan once again. The film had been released in 2012. It had been directed by Sujoy Ghosh.
Produced by Sujoy Ghosh and Kushal Kantilal Gada the film had a small budget of 8 crore rupees. But the film had already done business worth 40 crores in the first week. Vishal Shekhar had composed the music of the film.
In the film Vidya Balan played the role of a software engineer named Vidya Bagchi who had come all the way from London to Kolkata in carrying state to find her husband. She came down to Kalighat Police Station where the Officer in Charge Kharaj Mukherjee asked Parambrata Chatterjee to help her.
The film created suspense.
Vidya Balan with Parambrata Chatterjee went to National Data Centre and found the photo of Milan Damji whose photo was similar to Vidya Balan’s husband Arnab Bagchi. The information relating to Milan Damji rattled two Intelligence Bureau (IB) Officials Dhritiman Chatterjee and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Nawazuddin came down to Kolkata to warn Vidya Balan not to enquire further on Milan Damji who was responsible for poison attack in Kolkata Metro. Agnes Domello who informed Vidya Balan about Milan Damji had been killed by Saswata Chatterjee, a hired assassin who was also an insurance agent.
Vidya Balan along with Parambrata Chatterjee went to dilapidated house in Kolkata to search for records relating to Milan Damji. At the end of the film Vidya Balan went to Triangular Park to encounter Milan Damji and she killed him. She left during durgapuja immersion. It was revealed that Vidya Balan’s husband was Abir Chatterjee who was killed in the poison attack in Kolkata metro. Vidya Balan had taken revenge of that and she was helped by Colonel Bajpai who suspected that there was involvement of top IB officials.
Vidya Balan was excellent in her performance once again. All the supporting actors including Dhritiman Chatterjee, Parambrata Chatterjee, Nawazuddin, Kharaj Mukherjee were excellent in their respective roles. Amitabh Bacchan had sung the song “Jodi tor dak shune” in the film.
The entire film was shot in Kolkata. Thanks were shown to Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee for the cooperation relating to the shooting in Kolkata. Viewers should watch the film.
