During a recent interview CNN mogul,Ted Turner replied to an interviewer saying: "We would rather seek diligently to expose as it were, all the aspects on which we differ with one another as Christians rather than to strive to find the many values we share our celebration of Jesus Christ. "Did Jesus the Christ not say these words: " I have brought you a new commandment, That you should love one another."

Reflecting On A Surprising View Of Ted Turner

A close friend of mine sent me a very welcome quote which was so inspirational, that it got me thinking about all sorts of positive things achieved by very unassuming ordinary people. We all know someone like that, someone with overwhelming courage in the face of adversity. You may even be seen as such a person yourself, among your peers. The qoute he had sent me was by Ted Turner: "I just love when people say I can’t do something because all my life people said I wasn’t going to make it." - Ted Turner

Christianity Is An Eco-Unfriendly Religion

TED TURNER (www.tbs.org ) Cable News Network CEO definitely isn't afraid to speak his mind. Starting from his humble beginnings with a small Atlanta UHF television station and very modest resources back in the 70s, Turner's determination and outspoken style (he recently said, "Christianity is an eco-unfriendly religion") changed the face of television. That same dynamism is now directed toward environmental ventures. Turner actively crusades for cleaner transportation, sustainable population growth, wilderness conservation and greener business practice.

"Our Church Group Were The Only Ones Going To Heaven."

Turner recently stated: "You have to "walk the talk." That's why he donated $1billion to the United Nations to support their environmental and other programs, too many to name. He also has 450 charity groups of his own being funded by his foundation now. Turner really made news a year ago when he announced his unprecedented plans to start a foundation dedicated to helping the United Nations, with an initial donation of $1billion, paid over 10 years. The funds are reserved for population and women's projects, and for programs directly helping the environment and children.

He had been "very religious" as a little boy: "I was going to be a man of the cloth.
I was going to be a missionary
". He went on to say: "But the thing that disturbed me is that my religious Christian sect was very intolerant ... because it taught we were the only ones going to heaven. It just confused the devil out of me because I said heaven is going to be a might empty place with nobody else there." Turner praised "indigenous" religious faiths and then listed all the things humans have in common: :"culture, language, love of birds, butterflies, wives and flowers."

God Doesn't Want Us To Blow Each Other To Bits.

In his spiritual search, Turner said, he finally came to the realization, that there is one God and multiple ways he manifests himself and that it makes little difference which one is chosen. He recently stated: "Now, I believe there may be one God who manifests himself in different ways to different people ...And I can't believe God wants us to blow ourselves to kingdom come. He wants us to love each other and live in peace,"

Whether we prefer to disagree with him or not, when judged on his deep rooted love for all humans animals and the environment one can almost say: "Let he who has no sin, cast the first stone." "These values are entrenched withing almost every religious group on the planet, and hold sacred these very same principles but because of our, often egotistical nature, and our archaic rules of engagement on matters concerning religious dogma, we loose sight completely of the one message Christ wanted us to apply in our lives." He quoted: "That you should pray for your enemies."

Unity Is Strength

When asked about his views on the different religious groups, he had this to say: "To love one of the members of ones own religious sect, is easy, but to love him who is your religious enemy, that takes some real loving, I believe. Fortunately those walls of separation between Christian and Muslim and Muslim and Christian are starting to crumble and the cracks are starting to show among the youth of our planet, who are discovering that unity is strength. Everywhere these signs are becoming more evident every day. We see it on the many faces of the youth in the myriad anti oppression and anti dictatorial groups springing up globally. Organisations like Robin Hood tax,and the Occupy Movement Wall Street and now also Occupy Portland."

I seriously doubt Tim Turner's wealth will ever be logged historically beneficial for humanity. Especially in regards to the United Nations. He is an interesting subject to spin off of though.

There can be only one Creator but we can create as many as we want to fool the masses. We can choose different paths but they lead to the same destination. Our blood is same and we have same feelings like even other species. The greatest travesty of justice is to kill each other in the name of multiple Gods who should be able to defend themselves if need be, from us! Some spend their time looking for loopholes in others beliefs, highlighting them, while blissfully ignoring their own, by closing their eyes! Turner has the honesty to speak his mind while many others are hypocrites - just read the news headlines everyday! Thanks TP, for another thought provoking piece - siva

Thank you Siva for speaking your mind as well. There are so many "Good People" out there, the one example that springs to mind, is Oprah Winfrey, praised to high heaven for her good deads. I didn't see much of her own cash being flashed around on her shows. Also, don't cross swords with her or you will know all about it. Remember the beef burger incident?
