On Sunday 12th August 2012, Gareth Gates and his band are performing a gig at the Embassy Theatre in Skegness. Read on to find out more about it.

A Gareth Gates Gig at the Embassy Theatre Skegness

The Embassy Theatre stands proudly along the seafront at Skegness, which is famed for its golden sands, an ideal place to have a seaside holiday. It used to be known as the Piazza, and has dominated the seafront since 1926. It was owned by the district council, and was leased by a Mr Morris, and was used as a ballroom, containing an area known as the Minstrel Gallery, where an orchestra would play popular music.

During a storm in 1978, Skegness lost it its only theatre for local shows, and sadly the theatre was left adrift in the sea when it was destroyed during the storm. it was unthinkable for a seaside venue not to have a place of entertainment for the many tourists and vistors who come every year, so initially the Embassy Centre became a multi purpose exhibition and conference centre.

In December 1982, the octagonal auditorium was completed, and the building was redeveloped. Later in 1999, the building surrounding the auditorium was developed to include new outdoor pool and chalets, Health and Fitness Suite, letting units and an Art Room. This new complex was official opened by Ken Dodd on 3rd August 2000, he was chosen specifically because of his long association with the Embassy.

The Embassy has first class entertainment

The Embassy is proud to have a varied selection of entertainment to suit everyone, including a yearly pantomime, ice skating, musical gigs, West End shows, and dramas. The venue is also used for School Speech Days, and there is a dedicated and very friendly team to help anyone who needs it.

Many stars have appeared there over the years, just to name a few, Ken Dodd, Kylie Minoghue, Peter Andre, Des O' Connor, Frankie Vaughan, Eartha Kitt, Alan Carr, Al Murray, far too many to name here.

The building itself can house well over 1,000 people, and has the atmosphere of the West End, but set in idylic surroundings where the carefree holiday spirit resides. What could be nicer than visiting this wonderful venue whilst enjoying all pleasures that the Lincolnshire coast has to offer you?

Gareth Gates will be there on 12th August

A very special evening with Gareth Gates, formerly of Pop Idol fame, has been arranged for Sunday 12th August 2012. In recent years, Gareth has become very versatile , he appeared in Dancing on Ice in 2008, reaching the semi finals, and then entered the world of Musical theatre, receiving rave reviews for his portrayal of Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, and Marius in Les Miserables.

He is currently in Loserville, at the Yorkshire Playhouse, where he is enjoying playing his first baddie role. This will be followed by a stint in the touring production of Legally Blonde, as well as the numerous charity shows that he is always in great demand for.

Gareth has been doing gigs for a while now around the country at small informal venues, much to the delight of his fans, who get the chance to meet their hero. What makes it so special is this gig is in the theatre, and it's quite a few years since Gareth has performed at this type of venue. The last time was in 2004 at his arena tour of Go Your Own Way.

Gareth has tweeted recently that he has been writing new songs together with his guitarist Pete. He even tried out a couple of them at at the Pizza Express in June. This has caused much excitement amongst his fans, who would all like the experience of hearing them.

So what better way to enjoy Gareth's past hits, than by coming to The Embassy, with its amazing atmosphere. We don't know what else he has in store, but that is part of the fun of it. If anyone is travelling from a distance, there are many friendly and reasonable places to stay, and why not further your pleasurable experience of the area by eating out at the many and varied places that Skegness has to offer.?

If so, or you know someone who knows him personally, let me know. Thanks for sharing!
