A Man Who The World Needed

This article is about the Father of Freedom for Africa, a time when freedom wasn't free. Speaking out for his people, Mandela was thrown into prison and served 27 years of hard labor. He died of a respiratory weakness caused by tuberculosis while serving in prison.

A Man Among Men

This is not a biography of Nelson Mandela's life. Nor is it a summing up of his life. This article is about what a gift Mandela was in our lives. He fought for freedom of his fellowman. He wasn't always perfect but had faults as any normal man would. He was not Jesus. He just chose a form of passive resistance to being held in servitude because of his race.

Nelson...

In the early sixties Mandela was thrown into prison for speaking out on the slave like conditions that afflicted his people. He served 27 years of hard labor, busting rocks in the sun. Many men would have buckled and died. Not Mandela. He kept hope alive in his heart and in the 1980's hope came alive as people started to remember him and how he would not accept defeat of his belief's of his idea of freedom and equality for all men and women.

Mandela....

Many people started believing the way he did and soon started a movement for his freedom. After 27 years he was finally released and greeted a hero for staying with his ideas of freedom and equality for all. All people had the right of freedom of being equal, with equal opportunities for all. He was elected President of a new democratic nation and throughout the rest of his life he remained modest and with a idealism that, like the rainbow, reached in all areas of his life. It was a long walk to freedom for him, but he never let it go to his head and stepped down after his term as president was over. The man was a fighter for freedom and in the end won that right for all his people, and many other nations revered him as a man of freedom for all, unbiased and free.

One of the greatest in terms of wisdom. He never had any rancor against those who held him captive and left power after his job was done and message delivered. The world would be better off if we took heed of his approach to life both at individual and international levels. LIVE AND LET OTHERS LIVE! Mandela's life and death should not be in vain - siva

I believe , like Joseph , in the Bible ...God raised up Mandela to bring about the changes in South Africa that would end the troubles and bring freedom to that great nation ...for black and white alike ...
The world needs more men like Mandela today who believe that all people are equal and deserve to be treated as such .
God bless you Rose .

He came to show the world the truth,
In the colour that no mortal can refute.
Showing the fact that brought tear in eye,
Watching the world now tear and cry.

For the One who abolished the colour,
Once sat in prison with a medal of valor.
Bringing the world to find for the kind,
With laws and rules that One could find.

As he created his dream all joined to Unite,
Showing the truth coming in Black and White.
Where all are equal and with same colour of blood,
That brought the shame and the crying flood.

For they all looked the exterior skin,
While everything was the same deep within.
As the world now fell crying looking up high,
As the one of colour took to the sky.

To climb the stairs of the Eternal Life,
Showing the learning of that pain and strife.
Where all the memories remained within heart,
Showing they were forever never ever to part.

As the world came to smile again around,
Planet Earth welcomed the One who stood ground.
Taking everything back to where it belongs,
By ending all pain with just movies and songs.

As no other can ever replicate that Life,
Who saw the truth within pain and strife.
As the heart now revealed what is true and pure,
The Soul just walked on in perfect Endure.

Showing its watching but is yet unseen,
Leaving everything around so clean pristine.
As the world now sees the truth in heart,
The heavens door opens to a brand new start.

With purity and calmness like never before,
Showing the truth that is now in store.
As everyone now sees the silence in cries,
For the One with experience has lows and highs.

None to be rewritten but to take along,
As many now stand and in respect throng.
For the fact does remains it is the One Above,
Who sent a representative to show Love.

Took the truth and just went away,
Leaving all astounded with nothing to say.
For the truth of the actions are seen all around,
Where shell is seen but soul can't be found.

We all loved for what he stood for, and we thought our leaders that followed him did as well but today most of his ANC followers who are in parliament have completely forgotten that. Instead they are stealing the country blind.

Thanks for your tribute
Mandela is from my province in the Eastern Cape, SA. He himself said: "I am no Saint." Very few are in fact. But what stood out is that he was prepared to not only go to jail but to "die" to free his fellow countrymen and women from an abhorrent system. I salute the great ICON! Please visit my posts a visit to Robben Island.
