He started 3rd on the grid, but a dramatic turn of events saw Alonso win the Korean Grand Prix.

Alonso Wins in Korea

At the Korean Grand Prix, the rain came down relentlessly, and the track was slippery and dangerous. The start of the race was delayed, and when it finally started, the safety car was used for the first 17 or so laps.

I watched with my heart in my mouth, as cars slipped and slid, especially around the corners. The spray from the rain meant the drivers could see very little, and this made it even more hazardous.

Vettel started from pole position, with Webber in second, Alonso third, and Britain’s Lewis Hamilton was fourth. Initially it looked as if they were going to finish in that order, but then catastrophe struck in the Red Bull camp. Mark Webber misjudged a corner, and spun off, taking Nico Rosburg with him. Rosburg had overtaken Lewis, and this actually saved Lewis from being the victim of Mark Webber’s catastrophe.

Vettel built up a convincing lead, then the safety car was out twice more, but he still managed to pull away from his rivals, and he looked to be certain of winning. But a dramatic turn of events saw his car falter, and then Alonso and Lewis overtook him . His car then caught on fire, and thankfully he got out safely, but his race was finished.

Alonso went on to win, with Lewis coming a very creditable second. Both of these drivers did an amazing drive in very difficult conditions, and in the case of Lewis, worn out tyres, which slowed his pace at the end, but he did enough to keep ahead of Massa, who was in third place.

Alonso now heads the drivers championship, with Webber in second place, and Lewis in third. With two races to go, it will be exciting to see who emerges with the title of world champion for 2010

I thought it was going to be a dull race but it certainly livened up. I was wiching for Schumacher to get a pdium finish, he came so close and homestly drove so well.
