Her sad death on 23rd March 2011 marks the end of an era of glamorous Hollywood stars.

Elizabeth Taylor was Unique

Elizabeth Taylor was a born in Britain, but lived her life in America. She was extremely beautiful, with very dark hair, and the most incredible violet coloured eyes, which were not only big, but also extremely expressive. Her beauty and strong character attracted men all over the world, and she had no fewer than 7 husbands, one of whom, Richard Burton, she married twice. She was very aptly cast as Cleopatra opposite him, and she portrayed perfectly, the Queen who reigned during a time of huge unrest

How she started in films

She started her career with a bit part in ONE BORN EVERY MINUTE, but her contract at that time was not renewed. But this was only the beginning of her career, and one year later saw Elizabeth cast in LASSIE COME HOME. At the age of 12 in 1944, she appeared in NATIONAL VELVET. She had her own natural rapport with horses, and did all her own stunts in the film, which she found very enjoyable, and then her career really took off.

A PLACE IN THE SUN, the film adaptation of Theodore Dreiser’s novel An American Tragedy, saw Elizabeth take on her first adult role in 1949 at the tender age of 17. She was cast opposite MONTGOMERY CLIFT, A stage acting veteran (who was 29 at that time) They made a very handsome couple.

She made a total of 50 films, emerging from a cute child star to a provocative, fiery and passionate beauty, who absolutely held her own playing opposite established stars such as Mickey Rooney, Donald Crisp, and Ann Revere to name but a few. Her performance opposite PAUL NEWMAN in CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF won her critical acclaim.

Her Private Life

Her private life was not without drama, and sadly ill health started to plague her, and she had numerous operations over the years. This is where her courage and fortitude came in. She battled on to lead a normal life, and was very prominent in raising awareness of HIV and Aids, and giving her support to these charities. During her later years she was confined to a wheelchair, but this never dampened her spirit, and she continued to campaign to help others.

She loved jewellery, especially diamonds, and wore it wherever she went. She didn’t feel properly dressed without it, and her glamorous image was always apparent, she was a true Hollywood glamorous leading lady at all times, no matter how she was feeling.

She counted MICHAEL JACKSON amongst her closest friends, and gave him all her love and support when he was arrested and tried, but found innocent, of child abuse charges.

She was laid to rest on 24th March 2011,just one day after her death on 23rd March 2011, her poor sick body is at peace now, but her indomitable will and spirit will remain in my heart for ever.

GOD BLESS YOU LIZ, MAY YOU REST IN PEACE. XXX
