Season nine of "The Voice" has reached the semi finals. With a brutal elimination on the horizon, who shined the most when the nine remaining singers took the stage?

Semi Finals

Season nine of “The Voice” has reached the semi finals. And while tonight the evening will be filled with song, the Tuesday elimination show is going to be a brutal one when over HALF of the singers will be eliminated to select the four finalists.

In previous seasons of “The Voice” two singers were eliminated each week on the way to the finals; but this season “The Voice” switched things up in a big way only eliminating one singer each week until the week before the finals when a big cut would be made.

First up is team Blake's Barrett Baber with “Ghost”. Pharrell noted what a way to share your emotions in the most emotional way; despite having a few microphone issues. Gwen called it a powerful performance. Saying that he always knew Barrett would be there, Adam called Barrett one of the strongest singers in the competition. Coach Blake said that just kicked in the door of the finale; adding that they had better start figuring out what Barrett was going to do next week.

Team Adam's one Country singer Shelby Brown sang “Even God Must Get the Blues”. Blake said that Shelby sounded amazing tonight; adding that she sang beautifully. Pharrell didn't understand what there was to be so nervous about; adding that Shelby connected to the moment well. Agreeing with Pharrell Gwen said that it was her favourite performance from Shelby. Adam said that Shelby has driven him crazy this season; to which Shelby responded that the feeling is mutual. Noting that Shelby has conquered all of her demons, Adam said that Shelby deserves to be in the finale.

Team Gwen's Jeffrey Austin took on music legend Cher with “Believe”. Saying that he hoped all of his artists made it to the finale, Blake said that Jeffrey just proved that he deserved to be in the finals; adding that it would not surprise him if Jeffrey's song was the number one downloaded song this week. Calling Jeffrey ridiculously talented, Gwen said that Jeffrey gave an incredible performance; adding that he was obviously going to be in the finals.

British pop star Ellie Goulding performed her new single “”On My Mind”.

Team Gwen's Braiden Sunshine took a page from team Adam's Jordan Smith's book and chose a spiritual song - “Amazing Grace” - for his performance. Noting that he has grown so much, Adam said that Braiden's journey on the show has been the most unique. Pharrell said that Braiden has been a big inspiration to so many kids; noting that Braiden's voice has changed but there is still a kid in there giving hope to other kids. Noting that Braiden felt a calling to do the song, Gwen said that Braiden did a beautiful job.

Team Blake's Zach Seabaugh sang the Miley Cyrus hit “The Climb” in a performance that had Gwen wishing she was back in high school so she coule post photos of Zach in her locker. Gwen said that she had a feeling Zach was going to go through to the finals. Adam said htat he was proud of all the singers; adding that they all acted so professionally. Saying that he knew what was going to happen, Blake called it Zach's best performance so far.

Team Pharrell's only remaining singer Madi Davis performed The Four Seasons hit “Big Girls Don't Cry” and made her Dad cry. Adam loved the set saying that he wanted to hang out in that place; adding that the performance was unexpected and the most different thing he has ever seen on the show. Blake felt like he was watching a Disney movie; adding that it was too perfect to be live. Saying that he couldn't sit down, Pharrell said the production was amazing; adding that Madi sang like she was preparing for Broadway or a film.

Four time winning “The Voice” coach Blake Shelton performed his new single “Gonna”.

Team Blake's Emily Ann Roberts took on Country music queen Dolly Parton with the award winning hit “9 to 5”. Gwen didn't understand how Emily Ann could sing so perfect. Saying that she has to be going to the finale, Blake noted that Emily Ann is going to make somebodya great deal of money.

Amy Vachal from team Adam performed an acoustic version of the Bob Dylan song “Make You Feel My Love” and played the guitar as she sang. Pharrell said that Amy's voice sounds like it is made out of the the same things beautiful clouds are made from; adding that they needed that voice with all of the crazy stuff going on in the world right now. Saying that all of the energy was focused on Amy, Adam noted that they did everything they wanted to do this week.

Saving the best for last, team Adam's Jordan Smith performed the Queen smash “Somebody to Love” complete with a live Gospel choir that brought the house down and everyone to their feet. Amid rousing screams and cheers Adam said that he didn't need to say anything at all because the performance was one of the best things he had ever seen in his life.

At the end of the east coast broadcast six of the artists had their songs in the top 10 of the iTunes overall singles chart with one of them dethroning Adele at the number on spot. Two more artists were only a few places out of the top 10; with all of them in the top 45 of the iTunes singles chart. Any artist who has their song in the top 10 gets those votes multiplied by 10.

On the Tuesday results show the finalists will be revealed.

Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Bob Dylan, Dolly Parton, Ellie Goulding, Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams, Queen, The Voice
