Kim Hyun Joong is the leader of SS501, South Korean boy group. But aside from singing, he can act, too! In fact, he is best known for being the nice guy 'Yoon Ji Ho' in the hit drama "Boys over Flowers" last 2009 and famous globally for portraying the genius 'Baek Seung' Jo in the television series "Playful Kiss" year 2010.

Boys Over Flowers! Whew! Why can’t I get over you???!!!

It’s actually my third time to watch this 2009 hit KBS drama and I’m still getting gaga over them! Wow! What do they have that makes me like this? (and I know, not only me! Haha!)??

Well, of course! Who’s not going to go ‘gaga’ over these flower boys?
We have…
...Goo Jun Pyo who is overly rich and willing to give up everything just for an ordinary girl like Geum Jan Di.

...the playboy So Yi Jung who is also a skilled potter and owns the country's biggest art museum.

...the mafia Song Woo-Bin whose family runs a large construction company and has important connections to an underground organization

and last but not the least…

Kim Hyun Joong...

... as Yoon Ji Hoo who is the grandson of a former Korean president. He is Jun Pyo’s best friend and Jan Di’s lover. Since he is not like any other selfish man, he learns to let go of his feelings for Jan Di in the latter part and just stays beside her as a protective friend.

I mentioned his name last because after watching this hit drama, I searched and found another drama in which he is the lead.

Playful Kiss

Oh Ha Ni (Jung So Min) is a clumsy high school girl who ranks last in her class as she does not actually care about it. She is in love with a boy named Baek Seung-Jo (Kim Hyun Joon), a tall, handsome, intelligent student who ranks at the top of her class in high school. She confesses her deep feelings to him through a letter but he rejects her, telling her that he hates stupid girls. When Ha Ni’s house collapses because of a mild earthquake, she and her father moves into her father’s long-time friend's house. It turns out that Seung Jo is the friend's son and Ha Ni is given the opportunity to be near the guy she loves.

Hmmmm...

• I really like Oh Ha Ni’s character in this Korean romantic-comedy drama. I can actually relate to her… not at all times though. She’s the kind of girl that will do whatever she wants to do and will feel whatever she wants to feel. What I mean is you can barely see her emotions flowing in front of Baek Seung Jo almost all the time though she’s trying to deny them. She’s actually aimless because there’s no other goal in her life but to be Seung Jo’s shadow. I remember one scene that I replayed almost thrice…

“I have a dream. It’s to…be your nurse when you start a little medical practice somewhere. Or to be a stewardess if you become a pilot. Or even a caddy if you become a golf pro.”

Wow… what a touching line from Oh Ha Ni (though some say it’s stupidity but I’d say that too, I guess! Hoho!)

• Baek Seung Jo is a pretty arrogant genius boy who is always acting so cold (when you don’t really know him – as if I do! Hahaha!) He is pretty much good at everything and doesn’t need to exert an effort so he is really bothered by Oh Ha Ni (who makes him feel different kinds of feelings such as cramming, worrying, sleeping during a test then wondering about its result and so on for the first time). But unlike Ha Ni, his emotions are always hiding on his back and no wonder that this little dumb girl confuses his attraction into anger. (I’ve got to read Seung Jo’s diary after I finished watching this… hoho!)

Special Edition (After Marriage)

Wishing for a season 2, I almost jumped on my bed when I saw the You Tube Special Edition of Playful Kiss which covers Ha Ni and Seung Jo’s lives after marriage. It has seven episodes and primarily focuses on them as a couple.

Oh Ha Ni is still same, no change at all. Also, Baek Seung Jo. They are already working in a hospital, Seung Jo as a doctor and Ha Ni as an intern. My most favorite scene here is when Seung Jo gets an injury because of his caring wife. He is confined in a hospital and Ha Ni, really cares about his condition (just an ankle sprain), visits him on his room every other minute. (Hahahaha! Ha Ni is really… wow!) Not only that, when her husband is sleeping, she tries to answer all the papers of the patients he is in charge of! (Oh no! hoho!) Seung Jo comes to know it and when he confronts her, her tears begin flowing again. Touched, Seung Jo concludes that emotional scene with a kiss.
