Lewis Hamilton clinches his first win of 2012 at The Canadian Grand Prix, and becomes the 7th different winner this year. Read on to find out more.

Lewis Hamilton Conquers Canada

During the 2011 Formula One season, Lewis Hamilton was frequently criticised for not being focused on his career, following the breakup of his relationship with Nicole Scherzinger, and rumours of lack of support from those closest to him did not help matters either.

But now it is 2012, and Lewis and Nicole are back together, and Lewis has a lot of support from those he needs to have around him. He started off the season with a fire and a determination that saw him take pole position in qualifying no less than 3 times, proving he is the fastest man over a lap. However, it was frustrating to see that due to Mc Laren's slow pit stops, he was unable to convert it to a win.

The first six races had seen six different winners, which is a new record, and just shows how tight it is at the top, and although Lewis had been consistent in scoring points in every race, that win continued to evade him.

He Kept his Cool

But there is a new found confidence about him this year. When the Press interviewed him and asked how he felt about his poor pit stops, Lewis was not being drawn into berating his team. He just remarked that he will continue to push, and get the very utmost out of his car that he can, and then maybe the victories will come then.

If he was feeling frustrated, it certainly never shows, he is focused, and there is a certain demeanour about him which makes me feel he will not give up easily. As a fan, I have felt huge disappointment when his pit stops have enabled other drivers to get past, but he has kept his cool.

On Saturday 9th June, he qualified in second place in Canada, so he went into Sunday's race with great caution, remarking that it would be a tough one, as it didn't seem as if his car had the pace of The Red Bull or the Ferrari. it seemed like this would be like the other races, with poor pit stops thrown in as well , just to make his job harder.

I was nervous when they started

When the cars started, Lewis managed to maintain his second position. As his pace quickened, he started to gain on Vettel, and appeared to be hunting him down. Vettel tried to hold him off, but when it became obvious he would shortly be overtaken, he pitted, and this gave Lewis the lead. Two laps after Vettel, Lewis pitted also, and although his pit stop was not particularly fast, he had put in a couple of blistering laps, which meant that he was ahead of l, Vettel but unfortunately because of his own lightening pit stop, Alonso had now taken the lead.

But Lewis was having none of it, and with a magnificent manoevre, he overtook Alonso on the long strait, then building up a credible lead. He continued to lead the race until his second pit stop, which was around lap 50, and was necessary because he felt his tyres losing grip.

When he came out, he once again he had the challenge of overtaking up the field, which did not faze him, and he was lapping at two seconds faster than both Alonso and Vettel, this being due to their different strategies of tyre stops.

He maintained his winning position for the rest of the race, which saw Vettel and Alonso overtaken by Grosjean and Perez,, to achieve second and third place respectively. It was a very thrilling race to watch, and I am delighted that all Lewis's hard work has finally paid off.

WELL DONE LEWIS.

I can';t believe it's over for Lewis and Nicole

Mc Laren are the absolute pits
