After having to retire with mechanical problems from the Singapore Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton vowed to make a strong comeback in Japan. Read on to find out more.

Lewis Hamilton's Japanese Delight

After the disappointment of having to retire at Singapore two weeks ago, Lewis Hamilton set his sights on a good comeback in Japan. It was very close between himself and Rosberg in qualifying, and then fate stepped in. On his final hot lap, where he was already over two tenths up, Kivyatt suffered a very explosive accident, hitting the barrier, and smashing his car, but luckily he was un hurt.

The red flags came out, so Lewis was unable to complete his lap, which meant that Rosberg had posted the fastest time, which gave him pole ;position. At the drivers conference afterwards, Rosberg spoke confidently about how he had improved his starts, and expected to beat Lewis the next day.

Lewis did not make any prophecies, and Bottas, who had qualified third spoke about how he wanted to get a podium finish.

The Start

Lewis got off to a great start, and immediately challenged Rosberg for the lead. As they went round the second bend, Lewis held onto his line, as he was entitled to, and Rosberg had to yield, which allowed Vettel and Bottas past him. Afterwards Rosberg complained, saying he had to back out to avoid a collision, but whenever a move is considered unfair or dangerous, it is always looked at by the stewards, and at no time was this even suggested.

It was not long before Lewis built up a commanding lead, Vettel pursued him valiantly, but the Ferrari was not fast enough on this track. Mercedes did a fine job in getting Rosberg back to second place with good pit stops and strategy, he was able to get past Bottas and leap frog Vettel.. Later Vettel said he realised he had come in for his tyre change at the wrong time.

Lewis appeared to cruise to a comfortable victory, winning by about nineteen seconds from Rosberg,. but when interviewed afterwards he explained that the car had lots of problems, which luckily between himself and the team, they managed to contain, and bring it home. he had a flat spot, such bad vibration it gave him a headache for 15 laps, and understeer round cormers. Toto Wollf explained how relieved they were when the race was finished, and their worries were over.

Bottas was overtaken and slipped down to fifth, Raikennon was fourth, and Vettel third. Lewis was ecstatic with his win, which leaves him forty eight points ahead in his bid for his third world championship.

This is Lewis's eighth win of this season, and he has already won the title of the most pole positions, with eleven out of a possibly fourteen so far. He has also equalled his hero Senna's wins., with his forty first..

His buoyant and happy mood was a joy for his fans to see, mentally he seems to be in a good place. With five nail biting races left with all the drama that goes with it, he knows he cannot afford to have any more retirements, as he has both Rosberg and Vettel breathing down his back, just waiting for him to make a mistake.
