Say 'no' more than 'yes,' and just make sure you surround yourself with good people. - Lindsay Lohan

The Downfall of a Rising Star

Eric Kelsey reports for Reuters: Actress Lindsay Lohan managed to pull another rabbit out of the hat on Monday: however, she must spend three months in a locked rehabilitation facility. That is masterful thinking on the behalf of the judge - at least she will not be able to release herself on her own cognizance. Further stipulations of the plea agreement called for 30 days of community labor stemming from charges connected to a June car crash. Additionally, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James Dabney said Lohan, who formerly had a rising Hollywood career sabotaged it with a combination of legal woes and erratic behavior. With that said, she was handed down two years' probation and must undergo psychotherapy for 18 months. One can only hope that she will emerge from this experience with a different perspective from life.

The plea deal was born on the first day of the trial, when the 26-year-old struggling actress agreed to plead no contest to charges that she did not accurately portray the facts, when she told police that she was not driving her Porsche sports car when it demolished a truck on June 8, 2012, in Santa Monica, California. Did she think that the police was so inept that the truth would not be revealed? It is so tragic to see these stars blessed with so much talent turn their lives into a train wreck. Lohan, who was still on probation for a 2011 conviction for stealing a necklace, would have had a bright future in jail if she had been convicted of the latest charges.

Lohan's entire life provides a compelling case against drug addiction. How many talented people will ever be afforded the opportunity to showcase their skills? There were numerous talents whose hopes were dashed to prop up her career, and she let them all down as well as herself. Under Monday's plea bargain, however, she was given a suspended 180 day jail term that will not be invoked unless she violates the terms of the agreement with prosecutors. It was announced after prosecutors and Lohan's attorney met with Dabney in chambers for more than two hours before the trial opened. Further, the actress was recommended to keep her nose clean and stay out of cars.
Finally, the judge warned that the next incident that violates the plea agreement will have dire consequences.
