The live playoffs begin on "The Voice"...and include a new twist.

LIve Playoffs part 1

The blind auditons found 48 singers to battle it out and left with 32 The Knockout rounds brought it down to 20. And now it's up to the fans to help the coaches decide which 12 will move on to the finals and complete for the grand prize of “The Voice” in a special three night event.

But first that 20 will become 24 when for the first time in “The Voice”, the coaches can bring back one artist who was eliminated from the competition.

Again this season, when a singer has their song enter the top 10 on any of the iTunes single charts; they will have those votes multiplied by 10. An online download from iTunes counts as one vote for that artist.

First up on Monday night are team Adam and team Gwen.

First up is team Adam with Blaine Mitchell who use his time between the taped knockout rounds and the live playoff round to get married. Blaine is performing “Never Tear Us Apart” by INXS. During the video package, Adam said that it sounded like Blaine could join INXS tomorrow. Host Carson Daly said they got off to a blistering start. Blake said that it was hard to believe that Blaine did Country music; adding that Blaine had been de-hillibllied. Pharrell said that it was the right song choice for Blaine and it gave him all the room he needed. Pharrell said that Blaine convinced him that Blaine had written the song himself. Saying that Blaine had crazy body language, Gwen said that it was the perfect song for Blaine. Coach Adam noted that it all came together.

Gwen's stolen artist Regina Love performed the brand new Adele release “Hello”. Carson said that Regina did some excellent work. Adam said that Regina did an amazing job. Pharrell called the performance moving; adding that Regina has a voice that fills the room. Gwen said that she was honoured to be a part of Regina's journey o the show.

Team Adam's Irish rocker Keith Semple performed “To Be With You” from 1991. Blake siad that Keith was such a good singer and adlibber. Agreeing with Blake, Gwen said that Keith had a beautiful tone to his voice and did a really good job. Adam said that with his performance Keith restated his identity and showed who he is; Adam added that Keith did an awesome job.

Team Adam Country singer Shelby Brown performed the Linda Ronstadt hit “You're No Good” and brought the house to their feet. Blake said that Shelby did really good...and he is still upset that Shelby isn't on his team. Saying that she has a super strong voice, Pharrell told Shelby that he loved how Shelby let loose at the end of the song. Pharrell said that he thought it was Shelby's best performance so far. Adam said that Shelby crushed it; adding that she has gotten more amazing as the competition has gone on.

Gwen chose the Sarah McLachlan song “Adia” for Korin Bukowski. Calling the performance so cool, Adam noted that he heard some new things in Korin's voice. Blake said that Korin did a great job connecting with the song. After telling Korin that she looked beautiful, Gwen said that Korin gave the song her own twist.

Gwen chose Southern girl Ellie Lawrence as her comeback artist. Ellie sang “Ex's and Oh's”. Adam called it her best performance; adding that she finally found her thing. Blake called it his favourite performance of the night; adding that he loved how Ellie was so free on the stage. Pharrell liked how Ellie had a great time on stage. Calling the performance awesome, Gwen said that Ellie owned the stage and showed lots of personality.

Jeffrey Austin form team Gwen sang “Say You Love Me”. Saying Jeffrey gave a great performance, Adam noted that Jeffrey could win the whole thing. Saying that Jeffrey had great dynamics, Pharrell called the performance easily the best of the night. Gwen said that Jeffrey wasn't a contestant on “The Voice”, he was an artist emoting the song.

The youngest performer this season Braidan Sunshine from team Gwen sang The Bread hit “Everything I Own”. After the knockout rounds, Braiden was invited to perform with Blues Traveler. Noting that it is a beautiful song, Adam called the performance spectacular; adding that he felt like Braiden wanted to do more than the song would allow. Blake called Braiden one of his favourites; adding that Braiden is always consistant and steps it up each time he performs. Syaing that Braidan's voice is her favourite, Gwen said that Braidan did a beautiful job.

Team Adam steal Amy Vachal took on “The Chairman of the Board” with her performance of “The Way You Look Tonight” and brought the coaches to her feet. Begging Amy to do a Christmas album, Blake said that Amy had the perfect voice for the crooner stuff; adding that it felt like home. Calling the performance effortless, Pharrell said the performance could not have been any more beautiful; adding that Amy could win it. Adam said that it wasn't the voice; it was watching an artist perform on the show. Adam said that Amy did the best job she could possibly do.

Gwen's steal Viktor Kiraly performed “All Around the World”. Saying that Viktor did an amazing job, Adam noted that Viktor has arrived. Blake said that he was going out on a limb and said that Gwen was whipping Adam tonight; adding that Viktor did a great job. Gwen said that it wasn't just Viktor's singing, it was the whole thing.

Adam chose Chance Pena as his come back artist. Chance sang The Civil Wars song “Barton Hollow”. Blake noted that Chance puts out 150% of himself when he performs. Adam called Chance a talented kid; adding that he did a great job.

In the final performance of the night, team Adam's Jordan Smith took on Queen B herself with his version of “Halo” and brought the house down. Standing holding out his hands toward the screaming crowd, Pharrel simply asked what can I say? Agreeing with Pharrell, Gwen said that it felt so good to hear. Adam said that Jordan wasn't just a singer...he was a figure that people drew energy from.

After the east coast airing, several of the singers had already found their way into the top 10 on at least one of the iTunes single charts.

On Tuesday, Blake and Pharrell's teams will perform. And on Wednesday the 12 finalists will be revealed.
