Mc Laren lose Lewis Hamilton to Mercedes

After weeks of speculation, Lewis Hamilton has announced a new 3 year deal with Mercedes in 2013. If you look at the statistics for this past season, in which Mercedes have won just one race, and McLaren have won at least 5, and had many podium finishes, it would appear to be a very surprising move.

Lewis has been with McLaren ever since he was 13. At the age of 10 he knew exactly what he wanted, and approached Ron Dennis, telling him he wanted to be a part of his team one day. During his Go Karting days, his exceptional talent became obvious, and by the time he was 13, they had taken him under their wing to nurture this new rising talent.

He made his Formula One debut in 2007, making the podium many times, and ending the year as a runner up for the championship, losing by only one point. The following year,, Lewis won the world championship of 2008, this was all decided on the last race, which saw him overtake on the last corner, and win by one point, snatching the world championship right out of the hands of Massa.

But Since then

I must point out, that when Lewis won the world championship, he didn't have the fastest car. His sheer grit and determination, with a never give up attitude was the reason he succeeded.

McLaren is generally acknowledged as being amongst the top three teams, the other two being Ferrari and Red BullLewis's car, which meant he had to stop out on track, as he couldn't get back to the garage.

This error cost him an almost certain win, after qualifying in pole position, he was penalised for their mistake, and had to start from the back of the grid. He still gave it his all, and made up 16 places to end up in eighth place.

Lewis has qualified in pole position more times than any other driver in 2012, but due to team errors, has has only been able to convert it to a win 3 times. In the last race in Singapore, he was comfortably in the lead, but had to retire when his gear box failed. His team were heard to announce on his radio that he would have to stop, as "We weren't able to fix it in the pits."

Lewis decided to move on

As a fan, I have watched with dismay, the way that McLaren have let Lewis down. Last year, his growing up in the spotlight caught up with him, it showed in his demeanor, his frustration at all the mistakes they made. It affected his home life, and he temporarily split with his long time girl friend Nicole Scherzinger.

With his relationships repaired, he approached 2012 with a new sense of determination to prove he is the world's best, but McLaren have let him down again. Lewis never gives up, so he will be fighting for that championship until the end, even though he is 57 points away from Alonso. At one time he was leading, but now he has to fight to get back in front. McLaren have said the fact that he is moving on won't change their commitment to him for the rest of this season.

I sincerely hope this is true, as they have only themselves to blame that Lewis has looked elsewhere to get team support. He has been loyal to them for years. I have huge admiration for him to take up this new challenge with a team that has not yet proved itself to be fast. But Ross Braun wanted to secure Lewis, and has done so. He will be part of a project that launches Mercedes, because Lewis with his drive, ambition, and undeniable talent, will do his utmost to take that team to the top.

McLaren need to sit down and lick their wounds, they had so many chances to keep Lewis, and they blew it. But I hope they respect his decision, and learn from their mistakes, for the sake of their other drivers in the future.

WELL DONE LEWIS IT'S NOT ABOUT THE FASTEST CAR, ITS ABOUT THE BEST DRIVER, AND I AM BEHIND YOU ALL THE WAY.

McLaren are the absolute pits

There comes a time that you just need to step off the fast car F1 Circuit and step into the family and mid car circuit. That is exactly what he did. He has gotten back with his girl and needs to settle down in life, have a family vehicle and who knows do couple of stints in off roading and WRX and then come back to F1 driving again, if that is where his passion lies.
Fact is that he is just moving within the brand but out of it. Not seen in the F1 that is all.

Schumacher did something like this and even did biking at one point too.
I love motorsports but not heavily into it.
Loved the Schumacher, Rossi, Raiknonen days of racing. Rossi is for Motorbikes BTW....
