X-Factor Judge, Sharon Osbourne Blames 'Black Culture' For Justin Biebers' Bad Behaviour

I've always admired the outspoken Sharon Osbourne for being gutsy, ballsy and stating 'how it is' within the crazy celebrity culture. However, her latest comments about Justin Bieber acting 'black' have really struck a nerve. This article looks deeper into Mrs Osbourne's comments and how the media portrays black people.

Justin Bieber Thinks He's Black

According to the Daily Star, July 31st 2013, the X-Factor judge shed this opinion on Bieber's outrageous antics... “ I think he's lost. He doesn't realise he's white and not black and that's a huge problem”. Can someone please tell me how Justin's antics, which include spitting on his fans from a hotel balcony and also a neighbour (allegedly), urinating in a restaurants' mop bucket and a whole host of outlandish outbursts reflect on him thinking he is black?

Being a black person myself, I find Mrs Osbournes' comments highly offensive. Do you see Beyonce spitting on her fans? Or Jay Z pissing in a bucket? Michael Jackson had a pet monkey, as Justin did, briefly, but does that define 'blackness'? It seems Sharon and the whole 'white' media circuit have a certain view type of ethnic minorities and its very wrong and detrimental to the youths of today buying into this crap. Justin's wildin' out has nothing to do with him following black people or thinking he is black. He has too much fame, too much money, too many “yes” people and he's obviously struggling to live without his privacy. Just because he hangs out with a few “brothers”, his actions are very much his own. When white celebrities go bad, the media always seem to blame black influences, just as white parents do with their children. “It's rap music”, “...its the gang culture”. Should all paedophilia be blamed on dirty depraved priests? Or who fancies laying down the responsibility of violent robberies and brutal executions on the Italian Mafia? Hmmm, I can't hear you!

Rihanna - Black and Vulgar?

Steering away from Justin for the moment, let's use Rihanna as an example. Now there's a lot of crap that I don't agree with that Rihanna does, but when her being black and Barbadian (didn't you know those West Indian women have no class?) gets picked on, I have to stand up for my “sister”. The British media love to slate this girl almost daily. Her scantily dress sense “sexualises” her young female fans because Cher and Madonna's outfits never influenced or offended anybody, right? A picture of Rihanna in the paper will accompany an article using the typical words 'flaunting', 'vulgar', 'offending'. Lady Gaga in her set up will be called 'wild' or 'steamy'. Earlier this week, UK songstress Jessie J appeared on stage in a revealing white outfit, not one of three newspapers I read that reported on her performance slated her for it. Instead she was complimented and the hot weather seemed justifiable for her skimpiness. Rihanna has struck up a bonifide “wifey” friendship with young model, Carla Delevingne which has sparked fears of worry of the singers influence over this young “impressionable” British girl. Now, I don't trivialise the use of drugs, but when you hear so many stories of models snorting coke and starving themselves is smoking weed and getting a tattoo done really that worrying? Then we go back to the relationship between Rihanna and Chris Brown... When they rekindled their romance, Rihanna was labelled a fool for taking him back, some haters even decided she deserved another beating for her stupidness. Chris himself was labelled every derogatory name under the sun. Maybe deservedly, but domestic violence between white celebrities isn't viewed in such a “black” negative way.

Going back to Mrs Osbourne; when her beloved husband, Ozzy, almost strangled her in a drug frenzied attack many years ago, did the media turn on him? Was she advised not to give him a second chance because violent men never change? Oh, pardon me, he was on drugs, so he must've been acting black, right? Just the same as when her children Jack and Kelly had their addictions and wild out behaviour. Those lovely white kids weren't being themselves, they thought they were black.

Now I'm in no way suggesting Sharon is a racist or that all black people are innocent but it's totally wrong to suggest that all the wrongs in this world are the fault of blackness. Mrs O was probably trying to blame the influences of Justin's black friends, rather than the black community, but being a woman who has been in the celebrity business for a good while and seeing her children taunted in the press, she should have thought before she spoke. It's totally wrong to tarnish black people with the same brush and until impressionable celebrities like Sharon and the media stop doing so, white kids will always have an excuse for their bad behaviour (rich or poor) and black kids will always think that bad behaviour is expected from them.

I am sorry that you are offended with those comments but I guess, people are just too careless with the words they choose.

#Mariah - Thanks for your comment. In all honesty I think (hope) Sharon was misquoted, but still there's no smoke without fire.

Great article! Acting badly is not a matter of race it is a matter of not respectinb yourself enough to behave well. Justin may be lost, I doubt it has anything to do with his acting "black". He is "acting out" as one often sees in child stars as they grow older. They want to shed their young image and fans and branch out into different things an do not know how to do that without offending someone else.

I had a little argument with my wife and suddenly she raise her voice and started shouting at me non stop and out of the blue I don't know where it comes from I said to her: ''oh now you acting black". She was frozen, suddenly I had to run for my life. The inappropriate use of words and phrases can have some serious consequences. .

Ha Ha Mundowriter! I take it you're a fast runner... As I've said repeatedly, I don't believe Mrs Osbourne is racist, but her choice of words could most definitely incite others to think or behave that way.
